YES. THAT IS IRAN. Before the Islamic regime, THIS is what Iran was. So all those people who never believed me when I said it was modernizing before the 1979 revolution destroyed our country.
Sometimes I sit in Central Park between classes alone, play old tunes like Henry Mancini, and pretend that I am in New York during the 1950s.
Because that’s what retro nerds do.
2 notesI collect old postcards, posters, films, all things vintage. I just found my great grandmother’s old stamps from Iran during Reza Shah’s reign. That era was late Great Depression/early World War II. When I go down the shore, I love to spend hours in the vintage shops on the boardwalk!
But my best memory was actually from a boring day at work. It was summer, and everybody was away. So I started chatting with the watch repair woman (who is in her 80s) we went from discussing music to society, religion, and even men! She then suddenly looked at me and said “It’s amazing, I feel like I am speaking to someone of my era! Maybe you had a past life, you are definitely an old soul” I will NEVER forget that. I have been referred to as an old soul by many family members, a few teachers I’ve been close to (I used to talk with my gym teacher about the 1960s more than my classmates) But to hear a woman who lived through everything since the Great Depression to say that I was truly an old soul? That will always stick with me.
I only hope somewhere out there is a retro-loving male for me…
